Shoreline Flooring and Tile grew out of a legacy of love. Thad and Ann Lewis originally opened their business in 1981 in Wilson, North Carolina. Starting in the warehouse at the age of nine, their son TJ learned the flooring business, working alongside his father, Thad, for 30 years. Thad retired in 2018, and TJ took the reins of the family business.

TJ met his wife Elizabeth while on vacation in Ocean Isle Beach. A Brunswick County native, Elizabeth worked at Thomas/ Seashore Drugs, the family business her grandfather opened in 1964, which is still owned and operated by her family today. The two ECU grads fell in love, married the same year and after seven years of running the business and living in Raleigh, they decided it was time for a change. They moved themselves and the flooring company to Shallotte, Elizabeth’s hometown, and haven’t had time to look back!

They have been working hard since moving to Shallotte to establish their presence in the community with builders and clients, to perfect their showroom and to grow the family business in Brunswick County.

Although Shoreline Flooring and Tile sells and specializes in flooring and tile, they are also a one-stop design shop, with the largest showroom in Brunswick County. They have trained interior designers on staff to assist with selecting flooring, tile and the overall aesthetics of any project. Flooring options include hardwood, carpet, porcelain and luxury vinyl tile, luxury vinyl plank, custom rugs, runners and so much more. They love assisting their customers with tile selections as there are so many exciting, new options for flooring, backsplashes, showers and more.

Their highly trained design staff assists their customers in every aspect of making the best selections to fit each customer’s personal needs and to create a one-of-a-kind WOW factor for each individual. A lot of planning, preparation and communication is required to take a project from inspiration to installation. TJ and Elizabeth love the creative process and work as a team to ensure that the results exceed their customers’ expectations.

Their hard work and dedication have paid off as they have been voted the “Best in Brunswick County” each year since they have opened their doors! By attending trade shows and meeting with vendors on a regular basis, they are able to stay on top of new products and trends. They are also in the process of expanding their showroom.

TJ and Elizabeth have been married now for 10 years and have two adorable miniature labradoodles, Abby and Ellie. They are thrilled to be in Brunswick County close to Elizabeth’s mother, who still resides in the home on the Shallotte River where she was raised. TJ’s mother also relocated to Shallotte and lives close to Sunset Beach.

The Lewises are proud to serve their community and support many of the organizations in Shallotte. TJ is a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge and Shrine Temple. He is a former East Carolina University Educational Foundation Board member. They are active members of the First Baptist Church of Shallotte and support Paws Ability. TJ and Elizabeth enjoy boating, traveling and perhaps nothing more than a crisp Saturday in the fall supporting their East Carolina University football team. No matter where the Pirates take the field, you are likely to see TJ and Elizabeth decked out in their purple and gold. Go Pirates!
